Tip of the Month: Creating a New Claims Database

Has your claims database almost filled up? Did you know you can have multiple claims databases in PowerClaim XML? These can be used to break down your claims by year, or even just to create your own "archive" of old claims.

To set up a new claims database, click on the "File" menu, hover your mouse over "Claims Database" and then select "New". Type in a name for your new database (i.e. "2006 Claims"), and then click "Save".

Your screen will refresh, and you will now have a new, blank Claims Database. Click on the "Show Data Sources" button under the "New Claim" button and you will see a list of available claims databases. Just click on the database you wish to view to see the claims inside.

To move claims from one database to another, just click and drag the claim to the new database. This will copy the claim, and then you can delete it out of the original database once you confirm that it copied. (Tip: you can also copy multiple claims at once.)
